The age old debate: cinnamon rolls or scones?

Simple solution….

  • 2 cups flour
  • 3 1/2 tbsp brown sugar
  • 3 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 2 1/2 tsp cinnamon
  • 1 1/4 cups whipping cream (about 35%)

  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla
  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon
  • 1 – 2 tbsp whipping cream

Get Baking:

Preheat oven to 400 F. Mix flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, and cinnamon (by hand). Pour in whipping cream. Mix or knead by hand, until just combined. Mix will be sticky. Turn dough out onto floured work surface. Using your hands, flatten the dough until it’s 3/4 inch thick.  Cut into triangles (like a pizza).  Transfer scones to a greased large cookie sheet.  Bake 9-11 minutes.  Let cool five minutes, then glaze.

Variation: add 1/2 cup of peeled chopped Macintosh apples before whipping cream is mixed in for CINNA-APPLE-SCONES.

Mix all ingredients until you get a thin icing consistency.  You might need to add more cream or powdered sugar depending on the consistency you’re looking for.  Poor drizzle over warm scones.

  1. That looks like a VERY delicious compromise.
